The Revolutionary War 1775-1781
David served 9 months as a regulator though he was never listed on any muster roll. About 1775 David was killed on Hickory Mount about 10 miles from Petersboro in Chatham Co., Colonial North Carolina by Tories during the Revolutionary War. At the time of his death he was 40 years old. If burial at this time is unknown. Given his house was burned down after he was killed we can assume that he was not buried at the homestead as his family moved not long after his death.
