This hand colored sketch is of Thomas Lenoir Blalock (1852-1934) and his sister Margaret Louisa Blalock-Deaver (1851-1933). I know nothing else about its history other then that. It was passed to my mother via her mother Thelma Carrie Blalock-Hoyle (1921-1994).

In 1852 the second child of Etheldred Harrison Blalock (1817-1896) and Mary Ann Campbell-Blalock (1820-1890), Thomas Lenoir Blalock (1852-1934) was born in Pigeon Township, Haywood Co., NC, USA.  

On July 14th, 1860 we find "E. H. Blaylock" on page 74, line 2 of the Federal Census of 1860 living in District 37, Haywood Co., NC, USA

On June 12th, 1883 their child, Merriman Joseph Blalock (1883-1972) was born in Pigeon, Haywood Co., NC, USA. He went on to marry Myrtle Palmer (1902-1996) on November 8th, 1925 in Graham Co., NC, USA. Myrtle Palmer (1902-1996) was born October 27th, 1900 in Murphy, Cherokee Co., NC, USA to William "Will" Jonathan Palmer (1874-1962) and Mary "Mollie" Elizabeth Raxter-Palmer (1873-1930). From the marriage of Merriman Joseph Blalock (1883-1972) and Myrtle Palmer-Blalock (1902-1996) at least 3 children were born; Willa Mae Blalock-Millsaps 1927-2012 (Lloyd L. Millsaps 1922-2008), Meriman Joseph "Bunk"  Blalock Jr. 1929-2014 (Geneva Moody-Blalock) and Rolin L. V. Blalock 1932-2017 (Helen June Phillips-Blalock 1938-2017). On August 23rd, 1972 Merriman Joseph Blalock (1883-1972) died in Andrews, Cherokee Co., NC, USA. He was buried in Moss Cem., Marble, Cherokee Co., NC, USA. At the time of his death he was  89 years old. On March 20th, 1996 Myrtle Palmer-Blalock (1902-1996) died in Robbinsville, Graham Co., NC, USA. She was buried in Moss Cem., Marble, Cherokee Co., NC, USA. At the time of her death she was 93 years old.

In 1888 their child, Anearman Blalock (1890-?)was born in Pigeon, Haywood Co., NC, USA. After the death of his mother Cordelia, Anearman went to live with his older brother William Forest Blalock and is listed his his household in the 1920 census. I have found no other records after this.

The census of 1890 was destroyed by fire. The only part to survive for North Carolina was the census taken in; South Point Township, Riverbend Township and township #2 in Cleveland County.

Cordelia E. Trull-Blalock (1860-1883) died between 1883-1910. I have yet to find any documents in regards to her death and burial. I also have yet to find her family in the census of 1900. By the 1910 census her husband is living with an employer and both James Baxter Blalock (1879-1942) and Anearman Blalock (1890-?) are living with their brother William Forest Blalock (1882-1954). I can only assume that she was buried in Valley River Cemetery as most of her family is also buried there.

On April 23rd, 1910 we find "T. Lenoir Blaylock" on page 11, line 70 of the Federal Census  of 1910 living with his employer John Michael McDowell in East Fork Township, Haywood Co., NC, USA.
